Ten million euros of aid from Norway

BELGRADE — Norway has given ten million euros in 2006 for helping to create jobs in Serbia and speed up European integrations.

The Serbian Government will spend this donation on projects for implementing an information system for the preparation and administration of the budget, projects for decentralizing the administration of funds from European Union programs, increasing the capacities of the Finance Ministry, and developing business incubators in Niš and clusters.

The Norwegian Foreign Ministry’s Director for the Western Balkans said that the new donation is a successful continuation of cooperation with Serbia. He also mentioned to importance of Serbia’s recent invitation into the NATO Partnership for Peace, which will increase the speed of its Euro-Atlantic integrations.

“Norway will continue to be a key partner in Serbia for reforms in its defense system and accepting European standards.” Kamsvag said.

In the last six years, Norway has given Serbia 60 million euros worth of aid, half of which was given to the government and the other half to international and non-governmental organizations
