An attempt of Borat humour

When Borat did Kazakhstan some time ago, it was rude but it was funny. And it was clear why the Kazakhs didn’t like it.
Now the Spanish comedian and late night tv host Andreu Buenafuente is trying to do the same thing with Belgrade:
Andreu already made a mockery out of the Eurovision contest (which is not so difficult I guess) by managing to send his parody-representative to the contest, another comedian Rodolfo Chikilicuatre as the Spanish entry.
I am not quite sure what to think of the joke video about Belgrado. It is not enough ridiculous to be funny I guess. This way it may seem as if it’s Andreu’s real opinion about Belgrade, which I’m sure it’s not. What do you think?

On Borat himself, I sort of run hot and cold. His attempts dont always work, and when they do not they are just sort of painful to watch. But when he does succeed, he does it by exposing some meaningful truth about what he is looking at that only comes through because he has compelled everyone to act honestly by treating him like like an idiot. And the only way he is able to do that is by knowing the situation well enough in the first place to have an idea of what will bring this out in people. So in that sense I wouldn’t put the folks who made this little spot in Borat’s league. They did not become familiar with what they were taking about or put themselves in the position of having any actual humans threaten to undermine them.

If only it were just a little bit funny – I would be the first to laugh. This way, it’s just a pretencious piece of crap.
People in Serbia may often sound xenophobic, but I’ve never heard of a foreigner that didn’t have a great time in Belgrade.
We do have same imaginary beef with the whole f-in’ world, but when it comes to real life situations and real life encounters with “the third kind” – it’s where our trademark hospitality kicks in.
Screw the media coverages, visit Belgrade and see for yourself. ;-)

Eric’s spot-on about Borat. Buenafuente’s just crass. Whatever the substantive issues rude ignorance is no way of raising them.

Just not funny. Perhaps some effort and not using stock photographs and clips would have helped.

Quite retarded. And they didn’t even get their dates right… Unfortunately, I expect to hear more of the kind during the “hot phase” of the Euro Song Contest. The whole event is a joke, and joksters like Buenafuente will try to make it even more funny with ignorant little numbers like that. So brace yourselves!

This as funny as Zeljko’s comments on Eurovision
