• Povetarac

Cool in the summer season, hot in the wintertime, the Povetarac raft/boat is one of the coolest places in Belgrade right now.
Come early if you don’t want to wait in line on Fridays and Saturdays, not very pleasant being above the water when it’s so cold.
    Recommended: Fridays and Saturdays.

Address: raft/boat right to the Exile and Sound rafts on Sava, under old railway bridge on New Belgrade side.

  • L'Idiot

One of the coolest clubs in city of Belgrade. Pleasent staff and reasonable prices, mingling and dancing in a crowded basement and playlists full of surprises. What more do you need?

  • KST - Klub studenata tehnike

    Address: Bul. kralja Aleksandra 76
One of the last places trying to keep the rebelious spirit of rock, metal and punk in Belgrade. Gothic, dark, industrial, trash, hard and all other sorts of music not suitable for weddings are changing in the playlists from one night to another in this old club, originaly intended as a gathering place exclusively for students of technical univeristy nearby. Crowd consists mostly of younger generation with a few exceptions lost in time and space. Drink prices are some of the lowest in town, but also one of the poorest selections, consisting mostly of – beer.

  • Plastic

Address: Takovska 34, corner with Dalmatinska
Formerly known as Mondo, it’s still one of the few clubs in Belgrade where it’s normal to stand in cue before you manage to squeeze yourself inside. Atmosphere is very hot and sweaty, drink prices high, younger crowd under the influence of… music. Trance, techno, tech-house, drum’n‘bass and everything that excludes guitars and real instruments. Only chance for some rock music here is at tuesdays, when there is usually some rock gig.

Inside the club you will find another, smaller club up the stairs – it’s called Mint and the music is usually different than the one in the bigger club, most often even better. Entrance to Mint is sometimes possible only from Djusina Street, on the opposite side of the building.

  • Sound

    Address: Savski kej bb
One of the most popular raft-clubs in Belgrade, open only during summer. Often in danger of sinking because it’s overcrowded. Be sure to know how to swim. If the security won’t let you onboard, try one of the rafts on the right: Freestyler or Exile. Music on all three is fairly similar, and drinks are equally expensive. Sound DJs play mostly house, Freestyler r’n‘b and Exile plays tech-house and d’n‘b, but it’s changing from one night to another. These three rafts are extremely popular during the summer, so if you are in Belgrade in that time, it’s a must.

  • Stefan Brown

This place has probably one of the hippest and most attractive locations in the city of Belgrade. At the corner of Balkanska and Nemanjina street, high above at the ninth floor of a lonely building, big crowd is dancing and drinking until the early hours. Music choice – house, tech house and all the variations of house, drink prices bit higher, but the selection is also extremely good, and barmen friendly. When the atmosphere reaches boiling point, you’ll find it difficult to enjoy the view because the glass walls of the club get all wet and steamy. The only thing that spoils this cool place is very unfriendly neandertals at the entrance posing as bouncers. Arm yourself with patience and act like your not from around here and you’re not going to have any problems getting in. Entrance fee is most often zero dinars.

  • Mamolo

Changed it’s location and interior from very small and cool club in a basement to bigger and more popular club, but from what i have heard, also more commercial club at the Ilije Garašanina street, number 26.
What follows is a description of how it use to be when they were located in Ruzveltova:

Dance floor becomes very crowded very fast, so if you manage to squeeze your way out of it, you can rest on the othe side of the wall dividing the basement. Drink prices moderate, and the crowd that comes here is leaning towards the artistic kind. Notice how the waiters are very small and skinny girls, probably so they can drill their way through the crowd easily. It happens quite often that you have to wait to get in, but have some patience – it’s definately worth it. Usually free entrance.

Now i haven’t been to the new club yet, so if someone has, leave your impressions in the comments please.

  • Baltazzar

This club is located near Anderground, in Karadjordjeva street around the corner. It’s a more less typical dance club, with techno, house and disco beats. Lots of rooms with somewhat different atmospheres and purpose, for your chillout and dancing pleasure. In lack of dance floor, help your self with a table, bar or a chair, and dance away. Somehow girls tend to do this more often than guys. Typical club drink prices, that means in the higher end – for Belgrade this translates like two euros for a glass of local beer, 3-4 euros for a scotch. Entrance is usually free.

Very cool club with live rock, blues and rockabilly gigs and good draft beer, usually very very crowded, so come early if you want to grab a chair. But on the other hand, why would you need a chair when you can dance?

Younger crowd under the influence of Belgrade-style turbo folk on most nights. Occasionally R’n‘B nights. You’ll recognize the place by loads of illegaly parked expensive cars in front of the club. Surprisingly, entrance is free on most nights.

  • Bizzare & Gaudi

Hip Belgrade places from its begginings until today. Only professional DJs spining records here, mostly house and variations. Fairly high drink prices. If you get bored at Bizzare, check out Gaudi cafe right next to it. On overcrowded summer nights, visitors of these two cafes ocuppy the street too.

  • Flash (ex Bus)

Always popular and almost always fairly crowded. That’s partly because the club is fairly small. DJs play their tunes from a double-decker bus that somehow found its way inside this small Belgrade club. One of the cheapes places in town when it comes to drink prices, specially on tuesdays. Music can vary from fairly good commercial pop to intorrelable serbian pop, both concerning the loudness and quality.

  • Blue Moon

Used to be a restaurant during the day, now it’s a club in the late hours. Wide selection of drinks, a bit in the upper end when it comes to prices. Sometimes they host demo-band gigs, now that can be interesting.

  • Bitef Art cafe

During the nineties occupied by the communist party, oozing with mostly techno-folk music, everybody thought that one of the legendary Belgrade cafe-clubs was gone forever. Today, renovated and cleaned its trying to renew its image of the “cool” club. With imaginitive theme nights and a lot of live gigs, it nearly succeeds. However, high drink prices and a bit sterile enterior somewhat spoil the whole picture. Strange mixture of both younger and older people visits this place, so you can’t go wrong no matter how old you are. Tuesdays – classical music, fridays and saturdays live gigs, cakes on sundays. Website in serbian only.

There are couple more clubs worth visiting in Resavska street – Fili near the corner with Srpskih vladara street – weird people and weird music on most nights, this cult Belgrade club is a must for the fans of unusual. Bit further up from Fili, Stamparija club awaits with live gigs of cover rock and pop bands. Drink prices on the upper end though.

  • Beggars Banquet

As the name suggests, the enterior of the club is like you just walked in The Rolling Stones shrine. The music played in the club mostly fits in the enterior, with some sacriliguos exceptions, when you can hear also disco, pop and other softer genres. Mostly older crowd, often live music and fairly cheap drinks stand as a guarantee for a good time. For more Rolling Stones tribute cafes, go to Glimmer Twins cafe in Milesevska street 63.

  • Andergraund

Andergraund is one of the first clubs in Belgrade with a bit more “urban” atmosphere. Today, it is sometimes possible to see remains of that spirit, although a number of newer clubs took over that role. Andergraund plays mostly house music and all its variations. On fridays DJs spin hip-hop, and on some days electro or techno records on their turntables. Entrance fee usually around 2 or 4 EUR, sometimes girls can get in for free.

  • Ana 4 Pistolja

On the site of former club “Lagum”, that used to play all sorts of rock and pop, comes a new club called “Ana 4 pištolja” (“Ana Four Guns”). It’s apparantly the same crew who owns and runs the tiny cool cafe with the same name in Kosovska street 35. New club is pretty darn big, with cool cave-like enterior and one of the most interesting gardens in Belgrade, so it’s bound to be good also during the summer. Until then, various gigs and theme nights are planned, to keep you warm all winter with rock gigs, hip hop and drum and bass nights. The only thing it lacks is ventilation, so be prepared to smell of cigarette smoke three days after.
    Indie-go nights on saturdays.

  • Akademija

Good ol’ Akademija (aka “Demija”) is the cult Belgrade club from the early eighties. One of the few places today that doesn’t quite bow to the commercial stuff. Founded as the club for students of the art faculty, the clientele always has that special charm and knows how to party. Entrance is free or fairly cheap on most days. Akademija programme on the net: www.akademija.net. We recommend thursdays and saturdays.
